Product Detailed Description
Mechanical Security Without Consumables
Tape adds material cost, labor time, and environmental burden. Adhesive closures require curing, create permanent seal preventing inspection, complicate return processing. Ear lock mailer boxes achieve secure closure through die cut geometry — tabs engaging slots, friction maintaining engagement, visible evidence of opening attempt.
We engineer ear lock configurations for fulfillment operations prioritizing speed, security, and sustainability.
Locking Mechanism Engineering
Standard Ear Lock
Side panel tabs fold inward, engaging slot cuts in front panel. Front panel then folds over, tucking into formed pocket. Tabs lock front panel against opening.
-
Single lock — One tab per side, adequate for lightweight contents
-
Double lock — Two tabs per side, increased security, heavier contents
-
Triple lock — Maximum engagement, high value contents, extended transit
Reinforced Ear Lock
Tab extensions include additional locking points or arrowhead configurations increasing extraction resistance. Greater security with minimal assembly complexity increase.
Perforated Release
Opening requires tearing perforation connecting lock to panel. Definitive tamper evidence, single use security, clear indication of prior access.
Structural Benefits
Rapid Assembly
No tape application, no adhesive curing, no magnetic alignment. Flat blank pops into formed configuration, contents inserted, flaps folded and locked. Assembly rates exceeding 250 units per hour.
Stacking Integrity
Locked closure creates flat top surface supporting stacking weight. No tape seam creating uneven surface, no adhesive failure under compression.
Compression Resistance
Locking engagement distributes closure stress across panel width. Superior to tuck top under stacking load or impact.
Return and Reseal Applications
Reversible Locking
Standard ear lock reengages for return preparation. Customer reverses assembly process, locks flaps without additional materials.
Perforated Opening with Retention
Tear strip opens box, retained flaps allow reclosure for return. Single use security with ongoing utility.
Adhesive Strip Addition
Ear lock security plus peel and seal strip for return processing. Original shipment mechanically secured, return shipment adhesively sealed.
Print and Branding
Exterior Surface
Full print coverage despite lock cutouts. Graphic design accommodating tab and slot geometry.
Interior Print
Opening reveals branded messaging, return instructions, product information. Surface utilization maximized.
Security Messaging
"Open here" guidance, lock engagement confirmation graphics, tamper evidence explanation.
